An annual sewer usage fee must be paid for the possibility of using the public sewer system. This means that the usage fee is also due if no waste water is discharged, but discharge would be possible at any time (e.g. empty residential buildings or floors).

The canal usage fee is calculated by multiplying the calculation area by the standard rate stipulated in the canal fee ordinance.

The calculation area results from the sum of all floor areas connected to the sewage system, whereby connected basements are not taken into account. Floors or parts of buildings that are not connected are not calculated.

According to the Sewer Tax Ordinance, the standard rate is €2.45 (excl. 10% VAT) per m² calculation area and year. If rainwater is fed into the sewage system in addition to dirty water, a standard rate increased by 10% applies.
